Ernest Henry Chagnon was born on October 26, 1919, in Burlington, Vermont. He was the eleventh child of Narcisse “Nelson” and Delina (Bouchard) Chagnon.

Ernest was a student at Burlington Business College in 1946.

Ernest married Agnes Lorraine Coty on February 8, 1945, in Burlington, Vermont. Lorraine was born 1928 in North Adam, Massachusetts.

Ernest and Lorraine had three children which were all born in Vermont before moving to Florida. They had two sons, Joseph Ronald Chagnon, Ernest Chagnon, a daughter, Nancy Lee (Chagnon) Owens 1948-2006. Of the three, a son Ernest Henri died in his infancy in 1952.

Ernest and Lorraine spent the majority of their lived in the state of Florida with occasional trips back to Vermont to visit family and friends.

Ernest served in the Armed Forces during WWII.

Ernest died July 5th, 2012, in Ocala, Florida, he is buried with his wife Lorraine in the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
